During the youth cognitive excursions in the Rybal’skyi quarry, we together with young scientists and naturalists have taken the shovels, sieves and other necessary equipment and to search the Mandrikivka layers. These layers are very famous among scientists, geologists and paleontologists of Ukraine and Europe. It was found that Rybal’skyi quarry has much importance and the rich history of the geological past of our planet.
Many scientists and researchers have been studying this uniqueness of the Rybal’skyi quarry. Their work were highlighted in scientific journals and dissertations (Stefanskyy V.L., Bratishko A.V., Manyuk V.V., Veselov A.A., Korallova V.V., Nesterenko P.G., Nosovskyy M.F., Udovychenko M.I. etc.). However, we also managed to «touch» to the paleontological remains of the Upper Eocene Basin (about 35-20 million years old).
Students with a great pleasure have started to work and the result was amazing. We managed to find the remains of the shellfishes and corals of old times and ofcourse everyone wanted to touch the remains of the ancient eras that existed long before the days of humanity. Paleontological remains we’ve found are going to be transfered to the Geological museum of natural sciences and geography department of the Melitopol state pedagogical university named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky. These materials will join the collection of the museum where students and everyone will be able to see and learn a lot about ancient times of our planet.
See you!
