For the replanting we had the assistance of a nursery and two workers from a gardening company. We planted a total of 100 seedlings of 9 different plant species, all of which are included in the quarry restoration plan: holly oak (Quercus ilex), laurustinus (Viburnum tinus), laurel (Laurus nobilis), common privet (Ligustrum vulgare), strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo), mediterranean buckthorn (Rhamnus alaternus), dog rose (Rosa canina), blackthorn (Prunus spinosa) and gorse (Ulex europaeus).
Environmental restoration in a quarry is an important matter, as it decreases erosion of the exploited faces and helps to restore the quarry's connectivity with the surrounding habitat.

After finishing the replanting we left the quarry and headed off to explore the surrounding natural area. We ended up at the Mendikosolo park, a natural area of 45 hectares, mostly wooded with native trees such as oaks, maples, ashes, etc., and with a small lake.
In this place you can enjoy the sight of animals such as swans or ducks, as well as the many wild species that inhabit the site. There is also a large recreational area where many different activities can be carried out and enjoyed. Just the place we were looking for!
