Back at the entrance, Gabriele illustrated the habitats found in the area and the importance of safeguarding the meadows particularly, in order to foster biodiversity. In this regard, he also stressed the need for mowing to be carried out from July onwards, which had already surfaced during previous excursions, so as not to interfere with bird nesting. Furthermore, he aroused the audience’s enthusiasm by showing a bunch of predatory bird feathers and pellets (regurgitations of predatory birds) and explained the eating habits and biology of numerous bird species, as well as the critical issues related to the conservation of species endangered by intensive agriculture, maize monoculture and the use of pesticides. Lastly, we were treated to an engrossing presentation of Giuseppe Ragazzoni's findings and studies on the area ('the man of the Pleocene') following the 1860 discovery of the remains of a prehistoric man, which was joined by numerous others in the subsequent years, and the complex international anthropological dispute that arose .
